Aimee “Ayla” Heavey
Ayla is a born ecophile whose expansive outdoor experiences gift her ever-deepening love and respect for Earth. Formerly a Park Ranger and Field Biologist in the mountainous west, she now pursues her passion for sustainable living in upstate NY. When Aimee isn't bounding through the forest and practicing friction fire with curious little ones, she manages Unless Foodscapes, her start-up edible landscape design and permaculture business. An aspiring herbalist, she marvels at ancient connections between medicinal plants and animals with fellow “green witches.” In her spare time, Aimee can be found exploring and playing in the ecological world with her tribe, drumming and dancing around fires with spirited souls, volunteering with other Master Gardeners, and advocating for progressive environmental legislation with fellow eco-warriors and concerned citizens.
“The best time to plant a tree was twenty years ago. The second best time is now.”
