Growing up between the ocean and the mountains in Washington State, Leah 'Sparrow' Houghton has made a life of playing in the woods. Lucky enough to attend wilderness camps from a young age, Sparrow has had the pleasure of teaching and even directing at programs that raised her, such as Quiet Heart Wilderness School and Camp Wahoo. Sparrow completed all the available programming at Alderleaf Wilderness College, where she learned more about primitive skills, herbal medicine, birds, tracking, and outdoor education. She went on to be a core instructor at Alderleaf and was able to continue sharing her knowledge with adults. Sparrow is thrilled by campfires, singing, eating wild plants, and getting muddy while adventuring. By inspiring children to develop deep relationships with nature, Sparrow hopes to see more and more people caring deeply and learning to walk more lightly on our planet.
