Tuesday Homeschool @ West Hill...takes a trip!
The Jay clan took an excursion in the van last week! We all packed in, and before we knew it were out at our Arnot Forest field campus! This was the very first time a homeschool group has been out there. The Jay clan were honored to share an opening circle with our Wilderness Year program (a brand new 9-month program for adults). Next they played a huge game of elves and wizards, and then practiced their navigation skills all over the new and as yet unknown landscape. It was a great opportunity for inner tracking and navigating at its best!
At Thursday Homeschool we have been feeling very grateful for the sun this week! The sunshine made it possible (and very enjoyable) for the Fungi and Canopy clans to visit fall creek. There, the Fungi kiddos explored the ultimate jungle gym of the forest. We came across a tree we have named the "Mama Mammoth tree", because it looks like a creature with four legs and two huge tusks. Meanwhile, the Vine Clan used friction fire to create a magical fire, floating on water! They sent good intentions into the cold stream. The Vine got excited around the remains of a deer they discovered in the woods. Digging through bones, the kids felt like primitive archaeologists.
