We are always seeking gregarious, enterprising individuals to join us!

  • Our radical approach to education fosters a meaningful connection to the outdoors through nature awareness, primitive skills, curiosity, community and the mystery of the natural world.
  • Youth aged 3-15 spend their entire days immersed in the fields, forests and waterways of undeveloped nature – gathering resources, crafting tools, navigating the landscape, mastering fire skills and surviving limitless challenges together.
  • We are a not-for-profit nature education program in partnership with two nationally renowned associations: Cornell Cooperative Extension and 4-H Youth Development

Instructors will help craft our nature-based programs, facilitate positive group energy, and keep kids safe and engaged.

2018 Summer Camp Directors/Interim Field Director

Primitive Pursuits is seeking Summer Camp Directors who have a passion for teaching and the natural world and who have experience working with children and staff in outdoor environments.Experience with primitive skills, natural history of the Northeast, team management, and camp operation preferred. Training and teaching opportunities may be provided during the school year.

Two positions are available! The primary Camp Director position will start this fall as a part-time position and will transition to a full-time position next spring; the Overnight Camp Director will start next spring as a part-time position and will transition to full-time in summer. Both positions are seasonal, benefits eligible positions.
