Our Final Spring Adult Workshop
Megan Pugh, April 1, 2019
Join us for this workshop and explore the process of making Black Ash baskets from the beautiful black ash tree. These baskets are functional, durable, and stunning works of art. Learn how to identify the black ash tree and how to properly prepare it for splint making. Experience the process of pounding the wood and peeling up growth rings as we transform this soggy piece of wood into beautiful basket splints.
Everyone will have the opportunity to make a small basket entirely out of black ash, and we will spend some focused time on handles and rims (something we often run out of time covering!). You will walk away with a beautiful basket as well as the tools to take this skill as far as you want!
This workshop is being led by Justin Sutera. Justin has many years of experience with basket weaving, including specifically with Black Ash. He has also taught our Black Ash Basket workshop for the last four years.
