Base Camp: July 15-19
Conor Millard, July 21, 2019
The Base Camp Empire continues to thrive! This week we had three guilds to the Base Camp name. Base Camp is intended to be an introduction to a wide range of nature discovery, but these wild ones didn't need much help diving deep into the wonders of the woods!

The Sneaky Ones
I call these campers the Sneaky Ones, because they seem to enjoy being sneaky. I could also call them the Friendly Ones, because they enjoy being friendly.
This base camp guild, I call the Earth People. We're all Earth People aren't we? We all come from the soil, air, and water. But, this group is more Earth than People.

Great hiding spots!
Last but not least, the Pineapple People. This guild made a rare discovery. While walking deep into the hemlock grove, they saw something strange poking out of the ground. Was it Yucca? Nope, this was actually the North American Ground Pineapple, a rare species of pineapple native to south east regions of Canada. Unlike a typical pineapple, these grow underground, with a fountain of sharp green leaves protruding from the soil. it's so rare, the last recorded
occurrence of a Ground Pineapple dates back to 3,300 B.C.
This is no accident. The pineapple has chosen.
Thanks for the smiles Pineapple People!
