Forest and Creek Fun: Aug. 12-16

Megan Pugh, August 18, 2019

I caught up with a group of Growing Wild Campers down at the Monkey Run Wilderness Area. Campers were enjoying the sunshine, catching and releasing crayfish (Andrew get me a big one!) and playing happily by the shore.

Meanwhile in the meadow, an epic game of Quidditch was unfolding complete with seven players on each team: three "chasers," two "beaters," one "keeper" and one "seeker." There is also a "snitch runner," who is not a member of either team...those sitting out a round seemed to have plenty to keep them occupied too.

Back at the creek many of the Hunter Gatherers had taken over the crayfish catch and release party while others learned the finer points of stone skipping with master of the art, Sylvan.

On Friday, deep in the Hemlocks I came upon Oscar and the Gifts of the Trees guild as they were finishing up their pie making. Next they joined up with the Archers for some rowdy running games and a crazy escapade with a watermelon and a battering ram (ask your kids about that one and check out the slow motion video on Instagram).

Gifts of the Trees Group Shot and gratitude for a super fun week in the circle below.

Archer's Apprentice group shot.

...and final parting sticky shot post watermelon adventure!
