Ithaca Forest Preschool "To Bring" Policy

For your child's safety and enjoyment, it is essential that he or she has what s/he needs on every day of our program. If even one child is unable to stay warm, we may need to shorten our outside time for safety. If your child arrives at school without the proper gear, our staff may decide it is not safe for her or him to stay. In this situation you would be asked to return with your child later in the day and with adequate gear.

It is part of our job to help you learn how to dress your child appropriately for our program. To help us do this, we have produced detailed to-bring lists and a color brochure called "Dressing for Winter Fun".

A Note about Winter

If you are hesitant to enroll for Winter due to concerns about snow and cold, we encourage you to contact us! Our staff has decades of combined experience leading programs outside in challenging weather, and as a result we have a number of great resources for families, including our annual Winter Dressing Workshop held in November of each year. Check out our Winter Dressing Brochure for tips and guidelines about how to dress well for winter.

Ithaca Forest Preschool Medication Administration Policy

You are required to provide a doctor's written order and information for any medication (prescription or O.T.C.) that your child may be taking during programs. All medication must be in its original container. When you sign your child into a program a designated instructor will sign in any medication and will carry it until needed by your child. By NYS Health Department regulations, all medications must be self-administered. Your child may not be permitted to come to the program if he or she is unable to self-administer required medication. If your child has an EpiPen, our medically trained staff will assist them if necessary. When the program is over, be sure to sign out your child's medication.

Diversity & Inclusion

We create a space where each participant can feel at home among peers and mentors and within the elements of nature. Experiencing the non-judgmental simplicity and expansiveness of nature within a supportive group creates a powerful space for healthy personal growth. Participant Cancellation Refund Policy

Should you choose to change or cancel an enrollment for ANY reason, our refund policies are as follows:

Change & refund requests must be made in writing through the registrar, even if you have discussed this with another staff person, such as a field educator. The effective date of all refund requests is the DATE OF THE EMAIL notifiying the registrar of your request.

Email primitivepursuitscamp@gmail.com with your full name, phone, the participant's name, the full program name(s), and the program start date(s). You will receive a confirmation email within 7 business days. No phone calls, please.

When a transfer of credit to another program is permitted, there is a $15 admin fee per program per change. Only the Registrar can process these changes.

Program Cancellation Refund Policy

If a single-day program (such as a school-break day) is canceled due to inclement weather, we will credit your payment toward a future program or refund your payment minus a $15 processing fee. If a single day of an ongoing program (such as a week-long camp, Homeschool program, or after-school programs) is canceled, no refunds will be made.

We will cancel our programs if the Ithaca City School District cancels school due to snow or hazardous weather. If the program takes place on a school break day or holiday, we will cancel our programs if the Tompkins County sheriff declares that the roads are closed due to hazardous conditions. If there is a 2 hour delay, we will delay our program for 1 hour. As always, we encourage people to travel only when they feel it is safe. You can check here for current school and road closings.
