This week, we are dedicating our theme to some of our favorite forest friends: birds! The Purple Finches started the week off right on theme by doing quiet sit-spots at Beaver Pond to look for birds. As the camper voices subsided, the bird calls grew louder. The sound of the forest was mesmerizing and gave me a great start to the week.
One of our specialty camps is also right on theme: Night Owls! This camp runs from the afternoon to nighttime, with campers staying overnight on Thursday. Some campers even slept in hammocks nestled between trees. For their final night of Night Owls, the group made a yummy dinner consisting of hot dogs, corn, and potatoes, all of which was roasted over the fire. We also did sit-spots at Beaver Camp during sunset where the sky reflected over the water. We then trekked back to Turkey Knoll where the group played a game of Ghosts in the Graveyard.

Bow-making camp also ran this week, where campers got to make their own bows and take them home. It looked like a lot of carving and sanding work! The archers got tot test their bows at the Meadow on Friday and they worked great. Groups also enjoyed roasting treats over fires this week, with Adventure Academy roasting pineapple and other snacks.
Friday afternoon there was a market at Turkey Knoll where campers “sold” cool things they made like carving sticks or offered face paint. The currency was hickory nuts! Groups ended the festival by performing songs and dances at the Turkey Knoll stage.
