The air quality cut our week down a day, but On friday following a brief two hour delay, campers and staff came together to finish out the week in high spirits!

Our week started with introductions to fellow campers and staff, followed by instruction on some of our camp expectations and sharing of traditions. Yellow Warbler campers began building a shelter with large sticks and dried leaves, concluding their first day by making a tasty beverage with black currants grown in the garden at Trillium Camp. Forest Sports engaged in a stretch circle before tackling some sports. Other flocks spent their time in a more crafty way with Purple Finch campers learning knife safety before carving wood while Grackles campers painted designs on each other’s arms with charcoal.

Tuesday offered more fun activities and campers returned with a readiness to learn new things. Growing Wild campers worked on their garden and enjoyed a very exciting game where a bandana ball was bounced around between plastic frisbees held by each player. Gender Creatives campers played the same game after making things out of clay. They also made an awesome banner together which is pictured in this week’s photo gallery.

One of our specialty camps, Luna’s Rising, ran this week. Luna’s Rising is a camp designed for girls to practice forming connections and self-expression. They spent much of their time working on some cool weaving and felting projects.

On Wednesday, Luna’s Rising campers worked with wool which they eventually spun into yarn. Grackles campers took on the challenge of correctly matching different leaves to the ones that their instructors had previously laid out. Forest Sports campers practiced their atlatl throwin in the meadow and Yellow Warbler campers played fox tail (their favorite camp game of the week). Growing Wild campers climbed up the climbing hill and ran down to climb up again over and over again.

The smoke from the Wildfires cut our week a little short, but campers finished the week out strong on Friday. Yellow Warbler campers played many more rounds of fox tail and made popcorn over the fire. At the end of the day, everyone said their goodbyes to their new friends and instructors after an eventful week of camp!
