We can’t really say enough about the organizations that put time and resources into supporting our cause. As we say on our donor page, these folks are special people!
Joe Nolan, owner of Home Green Home on the Ithaca Commons has the distinction of being the first business to reach out and offer a monthly donation to Primitive Pursuits. I got together with Joe recently to ask him a few questions about his support
Why did you first give to our organization?
My two sons benefited from PP’s youth programs, and we wanted to help make nature connection programs available to a wider community.
Why does this cause matter to you?
Humanity is essentially at war with our planet (and thus ourselves). I believe that reversing the alienation of human culture from nature is crucially important work.
Tell me about your life.
As a little kid, my sacred place was a small woodland behind my grandparents’ home in Philadelphia called Morris Park.
The creek, stones, trees and wildlife there have stayed with me as a reminder of what is real, beautiful, and vital in the world.
What are you most passionate about?
The relationship of humans to the larger Earth Family, and how we might heal that relationship.
Can you tell me a bit about Home Green Home and why you created it?
Home Green Home exists to make it easier for people to choose products that are healthier for their families while also benefiting the upstream ecosystems, farmers & workers that produce the products.
We sell a variety of everyday goods, from all-natural mattresses & furniture to linens, apparel, books, gifts & more.
What would you like to pass on to future generations?
I probably can’t improve on Wendell Berry’s words : “it is only on the condition of humility and reverence before the world that our species will be able to remain in it”.
