And its here.. the final week of camp at Primitive Pursuits! Wow what a summer it has been. We are all so happy to see how much growth there’s been with all of the kids this summer and we’re already looking forward to who we will meet next summer!
Monday at camp we had a bit of a rainy day, but of course that wasn’t gonna ruin any of the fun or learning. Our Yellow Warblers started their morning with a walk through camp. As they walked, the kids began pointing things out that caught their eyes whether that was toads, mushrooms on trees, or interesting plants they may have never seen before. On this rainy day there were so many toads jumping around, the kids had a blast watching them and discovering all types of different creatures on the land here at primitive pursuits. While our Yellow Warblers enjoyed their nature walk through camp, our Purple Finches were having fun with acorns and tarps. Sometimes at camp it’s the simple things that can really be the most fun! The kids put acorns on the top of a shelter made from a tarp and watched them roll down seeing whose acorn could get to the bottom of the tarp faster. Even with a little bit of rain these campers still had an awesome day at camp!

On Wednesday our campers had a super exciting day! There was another festival at camp filled with laughter, music, dancing, and fun. Our Forest Bards got to show off their musical talents, all going around camp and doing musical performances for the other groups…
Moving into Thursday at camp, our Pathfinders spent the morning exploring the cliffs! After all of the rain this week at camp the creek was filled with water, we are so grateful for the rain at camp for filling our creek with so much water. The kids had a blast playing by the water. The kids also got to explore the cliffs searching for clay to give the instructors clay face masks. By the early afternoon these campers got to enjoy their lunch at the top of the cliffs overlooking a beautiful view of the creek below. Back at the main camp at our Chillz & Skillz campers put up these awesome shelters using tarps and put hammocks underneath, these campers had to search behind Hearth Camp to find the best trees to put their hammocks on. Our campers had a relaxing afternoon playing on the hammocks, reading, and relaxing in nature. Our Purple Finches were practicing their carving skills at camp, learning the important safety skills behind carving like having a safety circle around them and always following instructions very carefully.
Ending the week strong our campers had a super awesome Friday! Our forest village campers spent some time playing in the creek to cool off and they got to look for all different types of plants and cool insects. Most of the morning the kids got to have a lot of free play and by the afternoon it was time for the fair at Turkey Knoll! Our campers had lots of different booths set up with many different activities for people to have fun with. There was face painting, caramel apple making, music, plays, and stick throwing. These kids had an eventful afternoon.
It has been an amazing summer at Primitive Pursuits. Thanks for tuning into our blog and keep an eye out for Fall stories!
