With just a couple of weeks left of camp, we’ve been soaking in all of the exciting moments and making the most of every day! From exploring nature and building fairy houses to cooking over campfires and playing games in the woods, this week was filled with adventure, learning, and plenty of fun. Starting off strong on Monday, our Growing Wild campers were challenged to find a leaf they had never seen before and bring it back to their counselor. This activity helped campers practice their observation skills while learning more about the plants and nature around them. Our Forest Villagers and Purple Finches spent the day making fires, playing in the mud, and building fairy houses. Campers learned the importance of fire-making safety while also getting to roast some yummy snacks over the fire. After enjoying their treats, it was time to finish building their fairy houses! The campers headed down to the creek to search for rocks, bark, sticks, and other natural materials to create a strong base for their houses. Working together, they carefully chose supplies to build homes that would help protect their fairies from the weather. The day was filled with curiosity, creativity, and fun!

Moving on to Tuesday, Forest Villagers played a game where they had to sneak up on a camper without being pointed at. Their goal was to pick up a rock and bring it back to the other counselor without getting caught. This game challenged campers to practice patience, quiet movement, and observation skills. The campers also got to explore the climbing hill, making their way up and around before sliding back down! Our Yellow Warblers spent the day playing in the mud and continuing to build their fairy house from the day before. They also made more fires and practiced their stone-drilling skills. It was another day full of hands-on learning and new skills for our campers! Wednesday morning brought a hot and sunny day, making it the perfect time for our Forest Villagers to spend the morning cooling off at the creek. Campers played, splashed in the water, and enjoyed spending time outside. On the other side of the creek, our Purple Finches were skipping rocks, playing games, and having a blast by the water. Meanwhile, Growing Wild explored more of Trillium Camp while also getting plenty of time to play in the mud pit!

Beyond our camps during the day this week we also have Our Night Owls! This camp is an overnight camp thats happening this week! This camp takes place in the evenings and they have all of 4-H Acres to themselves! They have been building large campfires to cook treats and keep away the bugs. They also spent some time stargazing, hoping to catch the Perseids Meteor shower! On Wednesday, instructor Danielle led the campers through a blindfold-walk, an optional activity where the campers must rely on their senses and communication to trek through the forest. Thursday night these guys had a huge fire making all types of delicious foods for their dinner. The kids spent a lot of time collecting sticks, and sawing wood to collect for the fire. The kids all got to sit by the fire and enjoy this yummy food, ground beef, salsa, to create yummy burritos.

They ended the night with lots of fun, and playing a big game of man hunt, where they had to run and hide in the woods trying to catch each other. The night ended with all the kids getting cozy in their tents for a good nights sleep. Friday at camp we started with a huge game of sacred goat in the field by turkey knoll, the kids were all running and tagging eachother having an absolute blast! Our Future primitive group of campers spent the day eating watermellon, making pizza, and playing with face paint and drawing on each other with coal. These kiddos have been having a blast at camp from running around playing games, sneaking up on eachother, and practicing safety skills. We cant wait for what the next week brings!
