We were surprised this week by an unexpected guest… while playing tree tag in the morning this week, we spotted a fawn hidden in the leaves! Afterward, our navigator for the day successfully led us to back base camp.

An update from the woods with the homeschoolers
It’s hard for me to walk through a nice rocky creek bed and not be in awe of the beautiful stones at my feet. Whether it’s the striations in shale, carved by moving water, or the sparkly igneous rocks that made the long journey here on the backs of giant sheets of ice.
Last week we had an incredible overnight camping experience at Hammond Hill State Forest. We learned how to identify wildflowers with Newcomb’s wildflower guide, and dug up burdock root in the field before hitting the trail.
This Tuesday during homeschool at our West Hill location, the children earned enough “party points” this week – gained from answering questions correctly in our naturalist’s corner – for a celebration filled with feast and games!
